Orthodontics & Braces
Achieve the smile you want, the way you want it
When considering straightening your smile, it’s important to choose the treatment that's right for you and your lifestyle. Braces have been used by dentists for over a century to correct misaligned teeth and bites. Not only does this provide a cosmetic and confidence boosting effect, a correct and aligned bite also improves chewing function, makes cleaning your teeth easier and reduces risk of inappropriate wear of your teeth.
Dr Wang has been helping her patients achieve happy and healthy smiles for over 20 years and has earned the reputation of one of the most experienced orthodontic providers in our community.
When is the best time to get braces?
Whilst braces and orthodontic treatment in general is the most efficient during childhood and teenage years, more and more adults are also achieving excellent results.
Children should be continually assessed during their early childhood with regular check-ups so that our dentists can review their growth. Generally speaking, children should be assessed for orthodontic problems from the age of 8-10 years old. If jaw growth discrepancies are detected (e.g underbite, overbite, lack of space for adult teeth), early treatment may be recommended to encourage favourable growth and reduce the severity of problems later down the track. Braces is often recommended after the adult teeth have changed or around the age of 12-14. This coincides with the peak pubertal growth spurt which accelerates the speed of tooth movement.
If you are no longer a teenager, do not fret. Dr Wang's eldest braces patient is 64 years old, who sought treatment after seeing the amazing results her granddaughter achieved!
